Founded in 2013 by Mike Saviez and Heather Rader, Spirit Horse Vineyards is a boutique winery that prides itself on creating beautiful, one of a kind wines while empowering the community through education.

The Saviez Family has been farming wine grapes in the Napa Valley and the San Joaquin Valley for well over a century and the Rader family has worked the land for generations. Both families are united in the belief that strength of character, hard work, giving back and education are the values that empower the world, one person at a time. Spirit Horse is a product of that heritage, that quality of life and represents the spirit of the next generation that seeks to continue the tradition of giving back.

Grown on the steep hillsides of Calistoga high above the Silverado Trail, our boutique, limited production wines allow you to transcend the physical world in the here and now. Experience the magnificent soul of the Spirit Horse.

Mike Saviez    Mike started his career in the wine business in 1999 at 25 years of age in Calistoga California. Calistoga is at the northern end of the famous wine region of the Napa Valley. After working with his cousin Paul Saviez in vineyard development and management Mike took over as general manager of the Saviez Vineyards Wine Company. After several years in the Napa Valley Mike decided to expand his wine production to the San Joaquin Valley where his parents Frank and Alice Saviez farm along the San Joaquin River. In 2006 Mike and his parents decided it was time to create their own wine company and Saviez Family Estates was established. Mike is now making wine in the Napa Valley and the San Joaquin Valley and continues to combine his knowledge of farming premium wine grapes with making some of the best wines California has to offer.  Heather Rader Prior to Ceres Consulting, Heather was the Vice President of Brand Partnerships at Chegg Inc., transforming the way millions of students learn by connecting them to the people and tools needed to succeed in college. OUR FOUNDERS

Mike´s family has been producing some of California´s finest single vineyard wines for the past 100 years. Mike followed in his family's footsteps and began his career in the wine industry at the age of 25.

After several years in Napa Valley, he decided to expand his wine production to the San Joaquin Valley where his parents, Frank and Alice farmed along the San Joaquin River. In 2006 Mike and his parents established Saviez Family Estates.

Mike's father, Frank, worked in the agriculture industry as an executive and farmed wine grapes along the San Joaquin River while Mike's mother, Alice, grew up in the bay area in Northern California and taught special education in her early years. Together Frank and Alice raised three children and are farming several hundred acres around Central California.  Today, Mike makes wine in the Napa and San Joaquin Valleys where he continues to combine his knowledge of farming premium wine grapes with his passion for producing California’s top wines.

Spirit Horse Vineyards allows for Mike to channel his expertise as a wine industry professional into giving back to the local and international wine community- Sharing one wine at a time.

Heather Rader

Heather grew up in Ashland, Oregon and earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Oregon, where she cultivated a fascination for the coveted Pinot Noirs of that region in addition to other fine wines.  After living and working in New York for the National Football League in their sponsorships division, she made the move to the Bay Area.  She fell in love immediately with San Francisco and the wine regions surrounding it and has lived there for the last 14 years, where she has worked in the corporate sector leading sales efforts at companies such as Monster.com, multiple start ups, and now her own digital media consulting firm.

Heather’s father and grandfather were migratory farm workers and have harvested the land for generations, as did the Saviez family.  It is her and Mike’s dream to bring the community that lovingly harvests the grapes together with those that drink the wine by giving back through vineyard worker literacy programs, in addition to other philanthropies we support.

As founder of Spirit Horse Vineyards, Heather combines her passion for philanthropy and fine wine to create something that is more than a wine company- it is a vehicle through which we can empower others while enjoying the finest wines the world has to offer.  Together, we can change the world.  Salute!
